Power System Planning and Operations Group (PoSPO) was established unofficially in early 2013, comprising of lecturers jurisdiction of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, UiTM Shah Alam. The main purpose of this group is to gather researchers established that have the same interest in the planning and operation of power systems for the success of research, establishing relationships with industry and universities, produce high-quality publications and help each other in the supervision of postgraduate students activities.
This group is based on the two main sub-fields in the Electric Power System, namely: 1) System Design Power (Power System Planning) and 2) Control of Power Systems (Power System Operations).

Power System Planning and Operations Research Group (PoSPO) organized an industrial talk program with Sarawak Hidro Sdn Bhd, a state-owned developer of Malaysia’s biggest hydropower project, Bakun Hydroelectric Project in Central Sarawak on 17th November 2016. Final year students from the Electrical Power Engineering under selected topic subject and PoSPO representatives participated in the program.
The main objective for this program is to give exposure to the final year students about the operation of Bakun Hydroelectric.
PoSPO would like to express our gratitude towards Sarawak Hidro Sdn Bhd representatives for sharing very useful technical information on hydroelectric generation including its operations, maintenance and excitation. The given presentation by the speakers is superb and fun. We appreciated very much the speakers who provided such meaningful content. We hoped that this program will encouraged students to relate their theoretical knowledge to practical aspects of the studied courses.
Again, thanks to all participants who were involved in this program.

Global recognition for Malaysian universities' research news from New Straits Times, NST has reported Dr Nofri Yenita Dahlan, from Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) is a fervent advocate of solar thermal energy and its applications in industry, business and households in the country as well as the region. She has been working on several research projects in the area of energy such as power generation investment in liberalised market, Malaysia’s power generation mix, economic evaluation of solar energy, energy management and efficiency and Measurement and Verification in energy savings.
