Power System Planning and Operations Group (PoSPO) was established unofficially in early 2013, comprising of lecturers jurisdiction of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, UiTM Shah Alam. The main purpose of this group is to gather researchers established that have the same interest in the planning and operation of power systems for the success of research, establishing relationships with industry and universities, produce high-quality publications and help each other in the supervision of postgraduate students activities.  

This group is based on the two main sub-fields in the Electric Power System, namely: 1) System Design Power (Power System Planning) and 2) Control of Power Systems (Power System Operations).

The objective of this centre is established is as follows:

  1. Conduct research, share ideas and experiences, particularly in the areas of planning and control of power systems
  2. Establish a network of collaboration with industry and universities related to the sub-field groups
  3. Helping members themselves to initiate and implement quality research
  4. Helping members together in the supervisory activities of research postgraduate students through a 'main' and 'co-supervisor' among members
  5. Get more national and international grants for research
  6.  Generate more high-quality refereed publications
